I recently read an article in Success, one of my favorite magazines. It was on things that people who are successful do. The article was quite insightful and really got me analyzing my own goals and how I live my life.
Here is a shortened version of what I got out of the article:
- If you are not passionate for what you do it will be very difficult to overcome all of the challenges that life puts in our way on the road to success. Routine “check ins” with oneself is important to ensuring that you are still passionate about what you do and that you are not just doing it out of habit. Clear thoughts and passion are what you need to succeed in anything.
- Failure WILL happen. Failure is only a sign that you are stretching yourself and that is a good thing! Many successful people site the fact that they were urged to fail when they were younger as one of the things that attributed to their success. If you have not failed, you have not tried anything. The trick is to learn something from every failure so that you continue to grow. Evaluate what went wrong and what you can do different the next time. The road to success will be much shorter if you learn from every mistake.
- Challenge yourself and push your own boundaries. Not only will this keep your passion on fire but it will also keep you going towards success.
- Figure out strategies and routines that make you more efficient at what you do.
Beliefs in yourself and your abilities are key to your success and to reaching your goals. Just because you know how to do something, doesn’t necessarily mean that you will be successful at it. It takes drive, ambition and passion that match your aspirations. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.
You must be in your own corner giving yourself a standing ovation!
Live your dreams. It is possible!
